Passport Activities Technical Requirements
This site has been tested on both Windows and Macintosh platforms. On Windows and Macintosh platforms, the site will work as expected with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or newer.
Please note that while Microsoft has discontinued the Mac version of Internet Explorer, it is possible to download the latest version (Internet Explorer 5.2.3) from third party websites such as Softpedia.com. Oxford University Press accepts no responsibility or liability for any losses incurred due to the use of external web sites. Users access such external web sites at their own risk and must accept the terms and conditions of use stipulated by each individual web site.
It is assumed that the preferences on the user's machine have been set to normal
fonts, either 10 or 12 point. A larger setting may cause text to become partially
hidden. See the Technical
Help for how to change these preferences.
On Netscape, the menu feature for enlarging or reducing character size is not compatible with the Passport
Online site. If you notice that buttons and other images are not placed properly on the page, please reset this to 'normal' and refresh the screen.
Sound
Activity 3A requires a suitable sound plug-in. The browser will display an alert message if one is absent.
Online Test Flash Requirements
Please note that in order to run the test, version 7 or greater
of the Macromedia Flash plugin needs to be installed. If Flash player
is not already installed on your computer, you may see a popup window
asking if you wish to install the program. Please click Yes and
follow the instructions. Alternatively, the latest version can be
downloaded from the Macromedia site by clicking on the following
link: http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/
and following the instructions on the screen.
